The Madras Musings lecture series is on!

Popular Chennaiite and historian Mr. V. Sriram is the mind and heart behind the publication ‘Madras Musings’, an endeavour that is close to the hearts of all true blue Chennaities. He is a master story teller with an amazing memory, and has brought forth information and joy to many of us, who sign up for his heritage walks across Chennai. 
His venture ‘Chennai Past Forward’ organises these heritage walks. 


Madras Musings’ lecture series for Madras Week 2025 is currently on. 

We had the good fortune to attend the first event on Saturday at the AVM Heritage Museum. The speaker was Mr. Mohan V Raman, actor, and he is also a skilled story teller who shared the journey of the illustrious AVM family with all present at the museum. His presentation was on the history of AVM Productions. 

The hall was packed with interested listeners, as AVM Studios is one of the oldest and most noteworthy names in Indian cinema. 

The AVM heritage museum in Vadapalani, is well-kept and showcases delightful keepsakes from blockbuster movies gone by. 

Today’s event was a talk by Mr. V. Sriram at Radisson Hotel near the Chennai airport, and was about the history of the areas surrounding the hotel. It was an insightful hour about significant people and places, as well as history snippets, interspersed with Mr. Sriram’s trademark wit. A lively Question and Answers session followed. 

The rest of this week would have further events by Madras Musings at various venues across Chennai and interested people can register or show up as the case may be.
